About the Engineering honorees

Donald R. Beall
Donald R. Beall is the Chairman Emeritus of Rockwell. He retired from Rockwell in 1998 after a 30-year career having served as CEO or president for 20 years. He was a director of several Rockwell-related boards, and was a director of Amoco, Proctor & Gamble, Times Mirror and several others. Currently, Beall is a partner in Dartbrook Partners LLC (a family partnership) and the chairman of the Beall Family Foundation, which provided the funds to establish the UCI Institute of Innovation. He serves several UCI Schools in their various support groups. Beall is very involved in support groups at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey and is an Overseer of the Hoover Institution at Stanford. He is a Horatio Alger Award honoree and past chairman of the Aerospace Industries Association of America (AIA). Beall received his engineering degree from San Jose State University and an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh.

Kenneth L. Beall
Ken Beall is the founder and principal of Bridge Partners, a real estate investment and management company, and Dartbrook Partners LLC (a family partnership), an investment advisory firm. He currently serves as vice chairman of CT Reality, and is an active board member for The Fieldstone Co. and The Center for Real Estate at UC Irvine’s Paul Merage School of Business. Beall is also a member of the World Presidents’ Organization. He has bachelor’s degree in economics and his MBA in finance/real estate from UCLA.

About the ICS honorees

Paul Butterworth
Paul is currently Executive Vice President, Engineering at You Technology Inc. Past roles include CTO at Appconomy, Co-founder and CTO of Emotive Communications, where he conceived and designed the Emotive Cloud Platform for enterprise mobile computing. Before that, Paul was an Architect at Oracle and a founder & CTO at AmberPoint where he directed the technical strategy for the AmberPoint SOA governance products. Prior to AmberPoint, Paul was a Distinguished Engineer and Chief Technologist for the Developer Tools Group at Sun Microsystems and a founder, Chief Architect and Senior Vice President of Forte Software. Paul also served as Chief Systems Architect at Ingres. Paul holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in Computer Science from UC Irvine.

Jo Butterworth
Jo holds a Master degree in Library Science from USC and has held positions in the U.C. Irvine University Library, the U.C. Berkeley Engineering Library and the research library in the Mathematical Sciences Research Institute at Lawrence Berkeley Labs.
